Congratulations to the Dr. Mei Li Khong of the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine (Leader), Professor Julian A. Tanner, Dr. Fat Man Lau, Dr Binbin Zheng, and six MBBS students; Winson Chan Hei Man, Justin Ng Ka Yu, Clement Ho Ka Chun, Fok Jing Chen, Monica Lee Ka Ching, and Odelle Wong Kar Yiu; on their global Bronze Award for Power of Partnerships at the QS Reimagine Education event in Abu Dhabi! This is truly an exceptional achievement and a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team.


The project on 'Students as Co-Designers: Formalising Student-Educator-Partnership in Curriculum and Pedagogy Co-Creation' is a remarkable example of how collaboration and partnership can lead to innovative and impactful outcomes in education. It is heartening to see how the team has been able to formalize the student-educator partnership in co-creating curriculum and pedagogy, and the recognition from the QS Reimagine Education event is well-deserved.


It is also noteworthy that the team's achievement comes in the face of intense competition, with over 1200 global innovations submitted. This only underscores the significance of the team's work and the impact it has on education.


Once again, congratulations to the team on this outstanding achievement. It is a proud moment for the Faculty and the entire university.

We would like to present to you the latest addition to the video series on Generative AI (GenAI) literacy, “High Resolution” Electronic Health Record (EHR) Studies Enabled by LLM.

 

Electronic Health Record (EHR) has been extensively used in clinical big data research as it allows us to derive numerous informative clinical insights.  However, the efficacy of EHR is occasionally limited by its “low resolution” data, which render the information inaccurate or incomplete.

 

This video demonstrates how large language models (LLM) can be used to convert unstructured data, such as clinical notes and reports to structured format, thereby improving the “resolution” of EHR studies.  It also touches upon the challenges to be tackled to further improve the overall user experience.  If you are interested in knowing what can be achieved using LLM in clinical research and the way forward, check it out:

Recently we have produced a video series on Generative AI (GenAI) literacy to help members of HKUMed fully master this powerful tool in teaching and learning.   Subsequent to the release of the GenAI Literacy Ep 1 & 2, we would like to present to you the latest addition to the series, Addressing some concerns in utilising GenAI for teaching and learning.

 

This video focuses on a number of concerns that may be overlooked by users of GenAI applications in the context of teaching and learning.  As AI has a significant impact on our everyday experience, it is important for us to understand how this new technology works and its limitations.
